This past summer I was an editorial intern at Thrillist Media Group. Thrillist is a digital media company that combines an online men’s lifestyle magazine with a members-only, men’s shopping brand called JackThreads. It sends out a daily newsletter targeted to young men around the age of 21-35 recommending the best restaurants, bars, activities, gadgets, deals, etc. in their area. Thrillist is based on the idea of bringing together content and commerce and bridges that gap between city guides and men magazines.
While I was there this summer, I got to work on a variety of tasks like copy-editing, webpage development, assisting the production team, performing research, etc. One of my projects included creating venue pages for Thrillist’s new mobile experience launching in September. These venue pages consisted of general contact information, a short description, image, and metadata from websites like Facebook and Foursquare- all essential to the mobile app. Below are screenshots of how the venue pages were created and then what published venue pages look like. Following these you will see screenshots of another project, SEO title optimization, within an Excel document. The last screenshot is an article I contributed to through my own research, compiling of information, and writing.
